Living Improvements For Everyone (LIFE)
Living Improvements For Everyone is a chronic disease self-management program designed specifically for Aboriginal people. It is delivered by two facilitators to a group of community members once a week for six weeks. Attendees are provided with the tools and techniques to better self-manage their condition.
The workshop covers topic such as:
- Symptom management
- Fitness and exercise
- Healthy eating
- Effective communication
- Dealing with difficult emotions
- Better breathing
- Working with health care professionals
Participants also learn practical strategies and self management skills such as goal setting, brain storming and problem solving.
The LIFE workshop runs for six weeks; with one 2.5 hour session per week. Sessions are highly participative and are held in a variety of venues within the BAML region. A light meal is provided upon completion of the weekly sessions.
